HAIM’s performance at the VEVO TV Control Room made one thing very clear: this buzz band is worth the hype. The LA group launched into Forever EP hit “Better Off” amid frenzied applause, and they quickly turned the small space into a booming, bumping, rock-‘n’-rolling dance hall. The sisters performed the short set with vigor, throwing themselves into the music and attacking drums and guitars by turns. Fan favorites like “Falling” had new energy, a mid-set jam session showed off the band’s harder vibes, and closer “Let Me Go” ended in cacophonous drum beats. It was an immensely powerful show, and even this all-too-brief performance solidified HAIM’s place as one of the top acts of SXSW 2013.
