the Ocean gets deep on their upcoming album Pelagial and invite fans to plunge into the depths with their new track “Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish in Dreams.”
The German band’s 7th LP is an ambitious affair that will be performed and recorded live and presented as a single, 53-minute track. The album’s title, a term that refers to the open sea, is a direct reflection of the concept that guides this project; it will be divided into five sections, each one named after the 5 layers of the ocean: epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathyalpelagic, abyssopelagic, and hadopelagic. Listeners will begin at the surface and slowly make their way into the murky depths as the music takes on the characteristics of each section going from light to a high-pressured, dark sound. Pelagial will be available in Europe on April 26th and 29th (depending on what country you are in) and in North America on April 30th. 500 vinyl and 1,000 CD limited edition acrylic box sets will also be available (although they’re flying fast through pre-order on their website).
