Among many whispers, rumors, and confirmations of big name additions to SXSW 2013 such as Depeche Mode, Iggy and the Stooges, Green Day, and Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players, one more Artist seems to be an almost guaranteed addition; none other than Prince himself (or the Artist Formally Known As for his true loyalists). If you are lucky enough to be attending this year’s festivities, circle Saturday night on your calendar for the supposed Prince sighting.
According to Hitflix, Prince is set to perform later in the evening on Saturday, March 16th at La Zona Rosa. Those in attendance will experience quite the spectacle, as the phrases “custom stage” and “22-piece band” have also surfaced along with Prince’s name.
This will mark Prince’s first ever appearance at SXSW, and he will have a bountiful repertoire from which to choose at his “debut”. During his nearly forty year career, Prince has produced thirty singles that have broken the Top 40 and ten albums that have reached platinum level.
