Listen: J Mascis and Sharon Van Etten Release Stream of John Denver’s “Prisoners”

The late singer, songwriter, and activist John Denver will have an array of artist to take on his songs and make them their own in this year’s tribute album The Music Is You, a dedication to the legendary folk artist.

Features will stem from a list of musicians including Kathleen Edwards, My Morning Jacket, Lucinda Williams, and Edward Sharpe. Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis also collaborated with Sharon Van Etten to harmonize the cover to their own version of Denver’s hit single “Prisoners”.

The Music Is You hits stores April 2nd and you can check out Mascis and Van Etten’s version of “Prisoners” down below.
