New Music Alert: Saltland Announces New Album I Thought It Was Us But It Was All Of Us Set For May 2013 Release

Saltland, led by Rebecca Foon, has engrossed audiences with there unique and progressive sound.

Saltland is headed by cellist Montreal-based artist Rebecca Foon, and has captivated audiences with her solo career. She garnered recognition from audiences earlier in her career by being a founding member of contemporary chamber group Esmerine and a former member of Set Fire to Flames and Thee Silver Mt. Zion. Her style of sound has progressed since 2010 during her live performances abroad and in Montreal. Foon’s sounds can be classified as gently rhythmic with touches in electronic territory. She has collaborated on stage with many artists, including Mary Margaret O’Hara, Julia Kent, Nat Baldwin and Sam Amidon, among many. Her 2011 recording of her home grown solo album is comprised of various artists, and thus came up with the moniker Saltland.

Foon’s debut album “I Thought It Was Us But It Is All Of Us” captures the essence of her vocal style and whimsical sound. She sings of lost childhood innocence, the search for our inner quiet confidence of strength, and utopic dreams. The album gives much credit to Mark Lawson who collaborated with Foon at her Six Saint V apartment studio in Montreal along with her percussionist friend Thompson. She has also received musical assistance from Laurel Sprengelmeyer and Jess Robertson (Little Scream), Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson), Colin Stetson (Bon Iver), Sarah Neufeld and Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire) among others, Saltland offers audiences an impressive collaboration debut album of songs that combine many eclectic influences into an organic harmonious sound.
