WATCH: Beck Cover’s David Bowie’s “Sound and Vision” With a 160+ Piece Orchestra

Beck Hansen has taken on the challenge of covering the David Bowie classic “Sound and Vision, except his version includes a 160+ Orchestra, as part of the “Hello, Again” series. Watch the video below:

Led by conductor David Campbell and his Orchestra Eclectica, the 160+ person ensemble features a collegiate drum line, a row of electric guitarists, a musical saw, modular synthesizers, a Theremin player, a yodeler, two different choirs, a harpist, a range of percussionists from around the world, and the Dap Kings.

Hansen wanted to reinterpret the Bowie classic, giving it a fresh take for the audience and the performers. Plus director Chris Milk created a digital experience from the show by capturing the concert with 360 degree cameras and binaural microphones, so online viewers can have the same experience as the people in the audience.

Standing above the orchestra with his acoustic guitar, Hansen works his magic, guiding the songs and making the magic happen by interacting with the various parts of the orchestra. The entire show is constructed well and goes well beyond another cover version.
