What can be said about Johnny Marr that has not already been said? After decades of working with other bands post-Smiths break up, Marr is finally releasing his first solo album. The record, entitled The Messenger, will be be released on February 25th in the UK and the 26th in the US via Warner Brothers. After leaving the Smiths in 1987, Marr went on to work with a number of bands including The The, Electronic (a band he formed with New Order’s Bernard Summer), and briefly The Pretenders. More recently he has spent time with The Cribs and Modest Mouse.
Marr plans to head out across the United States in support of his new solo album in April and May. Beginning in Las Vegas, the tour stretches across the country and includes back-to-back weekends at Coachella. As he makes his way around the east coast, Marr will be stopping at the historic Trocadero Theatre here in Philadelphia on April 30th. It’s not every day that you get to see the songwriter behind one of the most influential British bands ever live so be sure to not skip out on this show! Tickets go on sale this Friday (2/8) at 12pm.
