The popular electronic duo are set to release their first album in eight years.
In May Daft Punk is returning with their first proper album since 2005’s Human After All. A new album from the world’s favorite masked electronic music duo has been a long time coming and many people are going to be excited about it. The album will be released on Columbia Records as The Guardian reports the band recently signed with the Sony owned label. There isn’t much confirmed information about the album but Consequence of Sound points out there have been rumors of Daft Punk collaborating with Chic front man Nile Rodgers, Panda Bear of Animal Collective, songwriter Paul Williams, Chilly Gonzalez and disco legend Giorgio Moroder.
The last official release from Daft Punk was the soundtrack for Tron: Legacy and before that a live album titled Alive: 2007. While all of this is exciting news, fans shouldn’t expect them to tour in 2013 as they have publicly stated it will not happen. However, they didn’t say anything about 2014. If you can’t wait til May for something Daft Punk related, Thomas Bangalter of the band wrote the score for a short surfing movie starring Lindsay Lohan.
