The line up for the sixth annual Roots Picnic was announced, as Gary Clark Jr, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Naughty By Nature and the Roots will be amongst the acts performing over two stages. The event is once again held at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
The 2012 edition was sold out with highlighted performances by Rakim performing the entire Paid In Full album and De La Soul – both sets backed by the Roots, along with James Murphy’s DJ set.

Philadelphia natives and the Grammy winning act The Roots have made their live hip-hop driven sound with lyrical genius and a variety of collaborations that have drawn much acclaim. They can also be heard as the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Past editions of the Roots Picnic featured The Black Keys, John Legend, members of the Wu-Tang Clan, TV on the Radio, Vampire Weekend, Public Enemy, Santigold, Gnarls Barkley, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Nas and many others.
