The Norwegian-American born, London based Villain previously worked as a model gracing magazine covers such as Vogue and Nylon. She has since switched her focus onto music, where she plays most of the instruments as well as vocals on the record, alongside Emil Nikolaisen (Serena-Maneesh) who also plays drums and keyboards, and Prins Thomas, who sequenced the album as well as collaborated and co-produced one track.

Much of her songs are based on escaping an unsatisfying world, with focuses on sleeping, displacement, anxiety and lack of being present, but striving for more than what is present. Drawing musical inspiration from lo-fi rockers Sun City Girls, Sonic Youth, Royal Trux, Bikini Kill, Wu Tang Clan and The Stooges, she created emotion filled songs with darkness and somberness.
