Kavinsky Announces New Album Outrun for February 2013 Release

French electro house artist Kavinsky will releasing his debut full length album Outrun via Casablanca Records on February 26. The album was produced by French producer/DJ Sebastian. Watch the video for “ProtoVision” below.

Basing his sound around the electro-pop sounds of the 1980s movie soundtracks, Kavinsky has quickly risen up the ranks of the French electro scene. The former French actor (real name: Vincent Belorgey) turned DJ used his inspirations from movie soundtracks to create his sound. His first single “Testarossa Autodrive” landed him his recording deal with Record Makers through his personal friend Quentin Dupieux (director of the film Steak that Kavinsky acted in).

Kavinsky is based on a character he created but the aftermath of crashing his Testarossa in 1986 and returning as a zombie in 2006 to make his electronic music.

He released three EPs via Record Makers – Teddy Boy (2006), 1986 (2007) and Nightcall (with Lovefoxxx of CSS) (2010).

He has already toured with Daft Punk, The Rapture, Justice and SebastiAn in 2007. SebastiAn’s remix of “Testarossa Autodrive” off the 1986 EP was featured on the Grand Theft Auto IV video game. His single “Nightcall,” produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk, was used in the opening credits of the 2011 film Drive, quickly attracting over 30 million views on YouTube.
