Following the announcement of a star-studded soundtrack for his rock documentary, Sound City, busy man Dave Grohl will be debuting his top-secret Sound City Players in Park City, Utah, on January 19, in conjunction with the premier of his movie at the Sundance Film Festival.
Promotional for Grohl’s directorial debut—which throws a spotlight on the legendary Sound City recording studio, home to some of rock’s most enduring records—the in-demand singer is slated to play with “the most talented group of musicians in the world,” according to one source. Given the film and soundtrack’s who’s-who lineup of stars—including Neil Young, Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor and Josh Homme—there’s no doubting the band will be a once-in-a-lifetime conglomeration. All will be revealed, of course, come January 19, when Grohl’s Sound City Players finally take the stage.
