Former Fozzy and Stuck Mojo guitarist Mike Martin has recorded a cover of “Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel” just in time for the Christmas season.
According to Martin, who was raised Catholic, he chose this song from a number of his favorite spiritual Christmas carols. He explains that he was inspired to cover this song as a reminder of the holiday’s humble beginnings, using the past to inform his work. He goes on to say, “I imagine a gothic cathedral, candle light vigil, midnight mass… But more, I imagine what it must have been like at the First Christmas: humble, meager, difficult, dangerous, hopeful.” Listen to the song below:
