The legendary metal group is now on Spotify. Read more for details.
Rolling Stone is reporting Metallica has signed a deal to put their music on Spotify. Despite the heavy-metal group’s turbulent relationship with music downloading and online streaming, their whole discography, including some live material and remixes, will be available for listening on Spotify. “With the kind of global reach [Spotify] had, we were ready to jump in as soon as we took control of our own masters,” drummer Lars Ulrich said about Spotify’s acquisition.
Spotify announced the aquisition on Twitter exclaiming:
@Spotify: Spotify just got louder! We’re thrilled to have@Metallica‘s music catalog now on Spotify!#spotifydiscovery
Many people remember Metallica for being one of the first bands to stand up against Napster. They also didn’t make their music available on iTunes until 2006, much longer than many other bands of their caliber.
