Talk about a “big payback.” Though the rough-and-tumble slave trade epic, Django Unchained, won’t unhitch its wagon till Christmas Day, one-of-a-kind director Quinton Tarantino has decided to spread some holiday cheer by streaming the film’s eclectic official soundtrack for free.
The wild revenge tale, a postmodern mashup of ’70s blaxploitation and the Westerns of director Sergio Leone, boasts an equally all-over-the-place soundtrack, moving from Jim Croce’s “I Got a Name,” to original pieces by legendary composer Ennio Morricone, to a James Brown–2Pac remix all in one breath. Peppered throughout with dialogue from the film, the original soundtrack also features guest spots by John Legend and the Louisiana musician, Brother Dege.
