Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) gave an advance preview of his upcoming directorial debut Sound City, which will be premiering at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The trailer was released on Twitter at @soundcitymovie and @foofighters, and on the film’s official Facebook page. Watch the trailer below.
Grohl will be attending the Sundance Film Festival in January, along with a select number of the artists featured in the film as well as featured on the soundtrack.

The idea behind the film began after Grohl purchased the custom built Neve 8028 recording console last year from the studio. Originally built in 1972, the board was used to record many of the legendary artists who recorded there, including Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Fear, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, and Metallica.
Grohl’s connection to the studio was through Nirvana, when they recorded the 1991 album Nevermind, which sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
The film itself focuses on the history of the studio, the albums that were recorded there and the human sides of the music created over the years, as well as featuring exclusive performances for the film.
