Adele’s 21 Album Sells Over 10 Million Copies, Reaches Diamond Status

Count it another big win for Adele’s blockbuster album 21. The monster LP has recently pushed past the RIAA’s Platinum status to the much-coveted Diamond benchmark, selling over 10 million units in the US, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Coincidentally, Adele’s smash is the twenty-first release to go Diamond.

After the initial success of 19, her debut record, the red-haired musician rose to prominence with mega singles like “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You,” making the Rick Ruben-produced 21 one for the record books. The good news comes just after Adele’s honor in singing the latest James Bond theme song, “Skyfall,” after the film of the same name. Other distinguished singers for the Bond franchise include Tina Turner, Paul McCartney and Shirley Bassey.
