YXIMALLOO is a Japanese electronic performance artist who has maintained obscurity albeit recording music since the 1970’s and having worked with artists such as Jad Fair, Momus, and Animal Collective. A spiritual kin to early art funk, Naofumi Ishimaru revels in mock-ethnic music and nonsense. Lo-fi, sweet and primitive, he utilizes ancient drum machines, an ’80’s synth, lap-top, hand percussion, and more. YXIMALLOO is a true original experimental artist and this is said to be his last tour. So check it.
Zeek Sheck DRUM Telephone is not a band, it’s a game. A game played and performed by 8 drummers. And that’s all anybody really knows until Saturday November 24, at The Lab.
V.E.X is dance noise-pop who dress like animals in front of fantastical backdrops or reptile-like projections.
Styrofoam Sanchez is academic experimental. He also wears a mask.
