Tussle has pushed the boundaries of every genre they’ve been lumped into since their conception in 2000. With postdisco-beating drummers, evocative synth atmospheres, pulsing bass and the occasional wail of experimental rock Tussle cleverly melds post-psychedelic art rock form into electronic sound. After a four year hiatus the four-piece instrumental band recently released TEMPEST – a further exploration into house and disco. This album begins with a refined organic electro beat, extremely drawing and leading the listener to the edge of their seat, drawing them up and through subtle and precise bpm rises, the cowbell sounds and the energy is ecstatic, incorporating world music patterns into the mix and subtly lowering the listener back into a head bob only to contemplate the experience that just was Tussle. Was that a jazz saxophone over the techno snare beat?! They are a band you really just need to see. With best album reviews and U.S. tours with bands such as Hot Chip and Ratatat, the latest version of Tussle will be playing this Saturday after a September 25th release of TEMPEST. Stream it here. Publicist is Sebastian Thomson. Argentinian-born Sebastian Thomson mixes live drums, synth bass lines and outer space arpeggios. He’s also known for a charismatic live performance – he performs in the crowd rather than on the stage. Inspired by the underground european scene when living in London, Thomson created Publicist and has been touring Europe heavily since 2008. Now located in NYC, Publicist creates retro-futuristic synth-groove jams for smokey chrome and neon dance clubs.
Also hailing from NYC back to his motherland is HAUSER/QUAID. Hauser/Quaid is Greg Zifcak. Greg Zifcak is Greg f-ing Zifcak and that’s all you really need to know. Half of EATS TAPES and Wave Dogs, among other projects, he will make you dance.
