Though its been nearly a month since Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the Eastern Seaboard, aid is still needed in parts of New York and New Jersey. Thankfully, the folks at Occupy Wall Street have organized Occupy Sandy, a coordinated relief effort directed at hard-hit areas like Rockaway Beach and Staten Island.
The group has amusingly set up an Amazon Wedding Registry, where visitors may purchase supplies most needed by victims of the storm. Coolest of all, an intimate benefit concert will be held in Brooklyn Heights this coming Saturday. For those lucky enough to attend, Occupy’s promoters have assured “an afternoon of acoustic performances in solidarity with those still without power.”
