SXSW 2013 Lineup Announced

Almost exactly on schedule with last year, the annual South by Southwest Music Festival has announced early the first wave of scheduled performers. Unlike last year though, now they’ve already announced 229 scheduled performances. Expect many more waves of scheduled performers to be announced over the next 4 months or so. We’ll keep you posted right here as each new wave is announced.

UPDATE 1 – 12/6/12: A second round of performing bands has been announced.

UPDATE 2 – 1/11/13: A third round of performing bands has been announced including Vampire Weekend, Tegan & Sara, IO Echo and more.

UPDATE 3 – 2/1/13: A fourth round of performing bands has been announced including Jim James, Andrew WK, The Pharcyde and more.

UPDATE 4 – 2/22/13: A fifth round of performing bands has been announced including Amanda Palmer, Phosphorescent, Captain Murphy and more.

For this first wave of SXSW 2013 there’s no shortage of top-notch talent. mxdwn favorites (and a previous Best of SXSW for us) Akron/Family are returning, as well as recent Mercury Prize winners Alt-J, Klaxons, Thurston Moore, Marnie Stern, Amon Tobin, The Zombies and so many, many more. Keep in mind, it is possible that some announced bands may drop out before the festival–Metric was announced last year and then quietly pulled out–so keep checking here as the weeks tick on.

SXSW 2013 takes place Tuesday, March 12 – Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Austin, Texas.
