Cedric Bixler Zavala from At The Drive-In and Mars Volta Confirms Working On Solo Album

Cedric Bixler Zavala has confirmed reports he is working on his first solo album. Read more for more information including who else is involved.

Cedric Bixler Zavala is the singer/vocalist of The Mars Volta. He usually plays second fiddle to the mastermind Omar Rodreguez-Lopez who is known to control most of the musical direction coming from the group. Cedric Bixler Zavala is finally stepping out into his own with a solo album. According to reports from Prefix magazine, earlier this week Cedric was tweeting pictures of himself in the studio while working on his solo album. In the picture (seen above) Cedric is standing with Gregory Rogove, David Hidalgo, Johnny Polonski and Juan Alderete who have been long time collaborators. It seems as though they may have formed some kind of new band to support Cedirc’s solo work.

Cedric Bixler Zavala was originally famous for being in At the Drive-In. When At the Drive-In broke up in 2001 they spawned many spin-off groups including The Mars Volta and Sparta. In other news, another ex-Mars Volta man Dave Elitch will join the Max Cavalera fronted supergroup.
