An EP titled About to Die, by the Dirty Projectors will be out on November 6th and accompanies their current full length release, Swing Lo Magellan. It will feature newly recorded tunes and one of them is “While You’re Here,” a song dedicated to the late Gerard Smith of TV on the Radio. Listen to the song below.
Dave Longstreth, lead vocalist of Dirty Projectors recently tweeted about the song:
“Hey, here’s a song I wrote on the day of Gerard Smith’s wake in BK 2 summers ago,” This song is for him. Miss u Gerry!”
Smith was the former bassist of TV on the Radio, and passed away from lung cancer in 2011 at age 36. He played on Return to Cookie Mountain, Dear Science and Nine Types of Light albums.
