Move over, Pandora and Spotify: Apple may offer streaming music to customers. And with support coming from major record labels, the new service may come sooner than expected.

According to Spin, negotiations are underway that would create a streaming music service that may include Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony’s music division. Rather than depend on an internet browser, which is what the majority of radio streaming services do, Apple seeks to create an app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This new app would eliminate restrictions that Pandora currently has, which includes limiting customers from skipping a certain amount of songs as well as capping the number a single artist’s songs per hour.
Since this would be an advertisement-funded endeavor, the only holdup now appears to be revenue sharing (art, right?). An Apple spokesman declined to comment on this developing story.
