Sera Cahoone has a way of immediately making herself at home in your heart. With her latest release, Deer Creek Canyon, Cahoone channels deep into homesick hearts, long lost friendships and the consequential pursuit of love. Enlisting the considerable talents of longtime live band- Jason Kardong on pedal steel, Jonas Haskins on bass, Jason Merculief playing drums, Sarah Standard on violin, Tomo Nakayama on piano and organ as well as Emily Ann Peterson on cello.

Immediately drawing you into the album is “Worry All Your Life,” opening up the 12 songs with a slow and steady pace of strings and Cahoone’s seductingly raspy voice. “Naked,” following closely behind, is a song everyone can connect with lyrically,  “Until it’s right for now/I don’t want you around,” layering in a mix of light banjo strings and acoustic guitars. The standout track on the album is “Rumpshaker,” enticing you instantaneously with a harmonica intro and slow rustic guitar strings and the infamous banjo layers that are prevalent throughout the album.
