Listen: Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra Cover Suicidal Tendencies Song “Institutionalized”

The 1984 movie “Repo Man” became a cult classic film, written and directed by Alex Cox and featured Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez. The original soundtrack featured a number of Southern California punk bands of the late 70s and early 80s, which one of them was Suicidal Tendencies and their now classic tune “Institutionalized.”

Who else but Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra could take stab at this song and place her stamp upon this already angst filled tune. Channeling her inner Mike Muir and yelling the words “all I wanted was a Pepsi…” was convincing enough to make this into her own. The song is featured on the Tribute to Repo Man soundtrack, released by American Laundromat Records.
