After prescribing known drug addict and Slipknot bassist, Paul Gray, high-dose narcotics, Dr. Daniel Baldini is being charged with manslaughter. Gray is just one of eight unfortunate patients which have passed away in the care of Dr. Baldini.
According to Crave Online, Dr. Baldini is facing charges of overprescribing pain-killers on eight different counts. Most upsetting to many music fans however, was the case of Slipknot’s bassist and founder, Paul Gray. This is because, as court documents stated, Dr. Baldini

did unintentionally cause” Gray’s death by giving “high-dose prescription narcotics to a known drug addict

Gray’s autopsy in 2010 showed that the 38 year-old had fatal levels of morphine and fentayl in his blood. The doctor has also already faced four medical mal-practice lawsuits, three of which were wrongful death suits. Though Baldini is pleading not guilty to the allegations, if convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison.
This lawsuit has created quite a controversy over whether cases like this are really the fault of doctor. Though the allegations keep building up against Dr. Baldini, his lawyer said,

It is unprecedented to turn unfortunate deaths or medical results into a crime against a doctor.
