English singer Bill Fay released his first new studio LP in over 40 years called Life Is People (Dead Oceans) earlier this month. On Monday, Stereogum premiered the video for the album’s new single featuring Jeff Tweedy, “This World”, directed by Tim Rutili of Califone.
The video projects Super 8 film of nature, traffic, buildings, etc., onto a collection of faces including that of legendary Jesus Lizard/Scratch Acid frontman David Yow. About the collaboration, Rutili explains:
I loved Bill Fay’s music the very first time I heard it. The timeless sounds, words and melodies always rang true for me. It is totally humanistic music. Compassionate, comforting, beautiful and necessary. When I heard Life is People, it immediately stuck to me like songs that had always been there.
