An updated video of The Flaming Lips’ version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” has been released, with Amanda Palmer singing on it this time around.
The original version of the Roberta Flack song featured Erykah Badu, which was featured on the 2011 Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends collaborative album, which also featured collaborations with Ke$ha, Biz Markie, Nick Cave and Bon Iver. She appeared nude, along with her sister Nayrok, in the video. Badu later slammed the video after its release, and was removed from public viewing.
The Dresden Dolls singer sings on this version, where she is also in the video. Much like the original version, it is a slow-motion and centered around a nude woman (played by Palmer) in a bathtube. But this time around, the clip did not include the scenes with the female body parts covered in various foreign substances.
