Lollapalloza’s international expansion has found its newest destination in Tel Aviv as it will be held there at Yarkon Park on August 20-23, 2013. Israel will be joining Chile and Brazil as the third and the latest international stop, along with its US stop in Chicago.
The festival is brought to Israel by NMC United, a prominent home entertainment, music distributor and publisher in Israel, along with production and promotion company Plug Productions Generator.
This is the first-ever large scale international music festival in Israel and will feature the same world class experience fans of the event expect. The venue is minutes away from downtown Tel Aviv, in Yarkon Park, the largest and most popular park in Israel. It also stretches for hundred of acres along the Yarkon River.
All of the Lollapalooza dates are as follows:
March 29-31, 2013 – Sao Paulo, Brazil
April 6-7, 2013 – Santiago, Chile
August 2-4, 2013 – Chicago, IL, USA
August 20-22, 2013 – Tel Aviv, Israel

Update: Lollapalooza Israel has been postponed indefinitely, according to the Los Angeles Times. A spokesperson for the event had told them the event would not happen on the announced August 20-22 dates at Yarkon Park. No reasons were given for the decision.
The Times had previously stated in December:
“Israeli news organizations reported that organizers and promoters were running into issues recruiting top-billed artists in addition to facing financial and production setbacks in setting up the festival.”
The Lollapalooza Israel website has disappeared. Earlier today, Lollapalooza tweeted, “Our plans for @lollapaloozail have been postponed, but we will provide any and all updates as soon as available.”
SPIN’s Daniel Kreps also speculated Lollapalooza “might have some difficulty actually booking the event.” Farrell performed in Israel with his band Jane’s Addiction, but according to the Times, other bands who booked shows in the area were marred with protests. The Pixies, Gorillaz and Elvis Costello were some of the acts who recently cancelled gigs in the area in recent years. Stevie Wonder backed out of a Los Angeles fundraiser for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces a month ago, due to a reported “very delicate situation in the Middle East.”
Despite these situations, the event spokeswoman described the situation as a postponement and not a cancellation. Stay tuned.
