Britt Daniel, Jason Narducy and John Wurster Form New Band Sp:t S:ngle

The debut album, A Thing Called the Divine Fits, won’t be due for another month but in the meantime, Britt Daniel (Spoon) and his new project, Divine Fits, just headed on their first US tour. The LP will be released off of Merge Records and with so much going on, the Spoon frontman is already in talks with forming yet another band while writing brand new songs for Spoon.

The new band is a supergroup composed of Daniel, Jon Wurster (Superchunk/Mountain Goats) and Jason Narducy (Telekinesis/Guided By Voices). With this new band, Daniel will be handing the songwriting responsibilities to Narducy who will also be providing lead vocals. The new band toyed with a few names, like Split of Evil, before eventually settling on Spl:t S:ngle. With regards to Spoon, Daniel revealed that he “doesn’t have any definite plans right now,” there are new song material “in the works.” He asked the rest of the band to “come up with some stuff for [him] to sing on top of.”
