Word on the cyber street was that Demonoid had been malfunctioning quite a bit over the past week. This was a result of a massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. But as of today, the site has been completely shut down by local authorities, according to TorrentFreak. Read on for more details.
The existence of Demonoid in cyberspace was such a problem that Ukrainian officials made a personal trip to ColoCall, the largest datacenter in Ukraine, to shut everything down. They wanted to make a point that they are heavily enforcing copyright infringement laws and taking the rights seriously.
The DDoS attack has been reported as “just the beginning,” and within the next few days a “hacker break-in” took place. The raid was originally supposed to take place in ‘coincidental timing’ with Deputy Prime Minister Valery Khoroshkovsky‘s first visit to the United States. Whether or not the event happened early, the point still came across.
Apparently, though, the site admin is still free roaming with the general whereabouts being in Mexico. Who knows what will come next? Demonoid may be shut down, but perhaps something else may surface in the future.
