Martha Wainwright Announces New Album Come Home To Mama For October 2012 Release

On October 16, Martha Wainwright’s new album will be available. Part of the magic in this album is due in part to Yuka C Honda, the album producer, and guitarist Nels Cline. Read on for more details about the album and a track listing.

Come Home to Mama was recorded in New York City and is described as having “passionate angst” and “twisted pop.” In the past Martha’s husband, Brad Albetta had a bigger role in the overall collaboration. For this album though, he is a guest musician playing the bass. Other musicians that have cameos on this album are Thomas Bartlett on keyboards and Jim White as the drummer.

Martha positively described the experience, explaining how “Yuka’s approach was very open.” She said, “Sometimes I would just demo the song, singing in the closet which served as the vocal booth, then she would build the track around that. In other instances we would jam with a few musicians and try to get a live take.”
