The band, Blur, just came out with two new songs, “Under the Westway”, and “The Puritan”.
Blur wrote these two songs specifically for the band’s upcoming performance on August 12th in London’s Hyde Park for the closing of the Olympic games.
The songs are currently available on iTunes, and will be available to purchase on 7 inch vinyl on August 6th.
“Under the Westway” is a very simple ballad about communication and love. It musically includes bells, vocals, and piano. Take a listen for yourself:
“The Puritan” on the other hand, is a busy song that comments on the simple and complicated ways of life. It is electronically based and encorporates other melodies into the song. It is interesting how different these two songs are. These two songs are so different in style that It almost seems like two different bands created two different pieces.
