After the success of reissuing the first two Smashing Pumpkins albums Gish and Siamese Dream, record company EMI has decided to reissue The Smashing Pumpkins third album Pisces Iscariot. Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan compares the oddities album to a mixtape explaining, “My approach was to look at the album like a mix tape. It was as if I was going to make a mix tape for a friend to say, `Hey, check out this other stuff I did with my band that’s not on the albums.’ I didn’t feel as if it had to work as a great album, but it had to work as a good mix tape.”
Last month the Pumpkins released Oceania, their first full album since 2007. The Pisces Iscariot reissue will be available July 16th internationally and July 17th in North America.
