“Can’t a guy just be angry and play really aggressive music?” OFF! front man Keith Morris replies to the sold-out crowd at the Whisky A Go-Go. The super force known as OFF! recently celebrated the release of their self-titled sophomore record by throwing a party at the world renowned venue. Consisting of local punk heroes Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), guitarist Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), bassist Steven McDonald (Red Kross) and drummer Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket from the Crypt/Hot Snakes), OFF! fired through fast and tight politically charged hardcore punk songs that got floor and everyone up-stairs moving. The Whisky’s No Moshing and Stage Diving rule was clearly going to be broken that night. Between songs Morris would reminisce about all the great bands he had seen play the Whisky and also all the memories he’s had when his bands played there. Their set was heavily filled with their latest songs and a nice selection from their First Four EPs.
