A recent stage collapse before Radiohead’s concert in Toronto has caused a great deal of commotion. Not only did it lead to the death of drum technician with three others injured and prompt The Flaming Lips to cover Radiohead’s “Knives Out” when they performed at NXNE in Toronto, but now there’s news that Radiohead will be forced to reschedule tour dates due to damaged equipment. Not only is Radiohead grieving about the loss off their drum technician, Scott Johnson, but they are also scrambling to get their customized light show fixed so that they can start playing again.
Radiohead’s statement is included below in full:
Hello everyone,
As you will probably have heard the roof over the stage collapsed at our show in Toronto killing crew member Scott Johnson and injuring three other crew members. The collapse also destroyed the light show – this show was unique and will take many weeks to replace. The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace.
Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with & consequently we have to try and reschedule the following shows:
