The Broadway musical based on the romance movie Once, scored by The Swell Season, won eight out of 11 awards under the categories they were nominated for at this year’s Tonys.

Marketa Irglova and Frames frontman Glen Hansard, better known as Swell Season, originally acted as well as placed their music into the indie film in 2006. It resulted in getting an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly”, and two Grammy nominations from it. Now they can also add eight Tonys as well.
Once won awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (which went to Steve Kazee, who played Hansard’s role), Scene, Lighting and Sound Designs of a Musical, Best Orchestrations, and Best Direction of a Musical.
