Pop Montreal Announces 2012 Lineup Featuring Lil B, Grizzly Bear and More

Pop Montreal has just given fans a sneak peak at their official 2012 lineup, which will feature Grizzly Bear, Dirty Three, Hot Snakes, Tim Hecker, Lil B, and many more.  The festival is set to take place September 19-23 at venues throughout Montreal.  More details after the jump.

One interesting feature of the festival is that it will include a discussion between David Byrne and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, talking about Byrne’s upcoming book How Music Works.  This dialogue is set to take place September 22 at the Ukranian Federation.  The book is set to be published in September, and Byrne and Butler’s conversation will likely revolve around their personal experiences as songwriters.

Here’s the official book description:

Acting as historian and anthropologist, raconteur and social scientist, he searches for patterns—and shows how those patterns have affected his own work over the years with Talking Heads and his many collaborators, from Brian Eno to Caetano Veloso… His range is panoptic, taking us from Wagnerian opera houses to African villages, from his earliest high school reel-to-reel recordings to his latest work in a home music studio (and all the big studios in between).

More announcements are to come in the next couple months regarding Pop Montreal. By the end of June, the festival will have a new official website where fans can keep themselves up to speed with all matters concerning the festival. For now, check out 2012 lineup for Pop Montreal.
