My Morning Jacket is hitting the road with quite the unique summer tour that allows fans to help curate their concert. To learn more, check out the details after the jump.
The tour dates are included below. As listed in the key at the bottom of the list, Band of Horses, Trampled by Turtles, and Trombone Shorty will be assisting them at various points along the tour. Also, as noted in the parentheses, $1 of select tickets will go to different charities.
Also, My Morning Jacket has chosen to start up their “Spontaneous Curation Series,” which allows fan club members and concert goers to assist them in curating each night’s set list through their Twitter account. Fans will get a chance to hear their personal favorites from the band, no matter which of their six studio albums they want to hear. In a similar spirit, My Morning Jacket has made the effort to repeat no songs at all for their back-to-back performances at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Curating spontaneously is best achieved by communication within a community because otherwise, curating in a vacuum can lead one to spontaneously combust. However, a spontaneously curated show is the best way to achieve collective musical combustion.
