Fitz and the Tantrums Announce New Album for October 9th Release + Summer 2012 Tour Dates

Fitz and the Tantrums kicked off their summer tour in Birmingham, AL today.  Not only do they have plans for a lengthy summer tour ahead of them, they have also just announced that their followup to the critically acclaimed Pickin’ Up the Pieces is due out October 9.  More details after the jump.

Some highlights of the tour will include a two-night stop at New York’s Jones Beach Amphitheater (6/12 & 13) where they are playing with Dave Matthews Band, along with their two shows with Ben Harper at the Santa Barbara Bowl (6/30) and the Hollywood Bowl (7/1).  Fitz and the Tantrums will also be stopping by some of this summer’s most anticipated festivals, such as Bonnaroo and Outside Lands.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit for more details about their forthcoming album.  For now, all we have is the release date but we’ll make sure to keep you updated as further details unfold.  For fans who just can’t wait for the new album, you can tide yourself over with Fitz and the Tantrum’s free 5 song EP!
