First CBGB Festival Announces 2012 Lineup

The first ever CBGB Festival has been announced to take place at venues all over New York City July 5-8.  Not only will there be concerts, but festival-goers can also expect film screenings, workshops, and conferences.  More details about this action-packed event after the jump.

The musical portion of CBGB fest takes place July 5-6, hosting 300 bands at 30 venues.  Some shows will take place at huge venues like Central Park Summerstage, while others will occur at significantly smaller venues.  Perhaps the biggest show is at the Summerstage, featuring Guided by Voices, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cloud Nothings and The War on Drugs.

Although the music should be enough to excite any New Yorker, the film festival and music industry conferences should be pretty interesting as well.  The film festival will not only play classic rock films and documentaries, but also premiere some new films, such as The Rise and Fall of The Clash. The industry conferences will have panels and workshops revolving around rising concerns in the industry, along with a CBCB “Tales from the Club” panel every day.  Head to the CBGB website to pick up a music, film or combo badge for the festival.  If all goes well at the festival, the festival organizers hope to re-open the famous CBGB punk-rock club somewhere in NYC.
