Kate Miller-Heidke prepares to release her first solo album in two years, Nightflight on June 19th on Sony Music Entertainment Austraila. It is an album inspired by real emotions, with Miller-Heidke’s mission being “to focus on the craft of pure human storytelling with clear-eyed clarity.”
“Everything I’ve ever done has been a reaction against the previous thing.”
– Kate Miller-Heidke
Watch the making of Nightlife with Kate.
In comparison with her previous album, Curiouser, this album is more vulnerable and a completely different experience. The songs on the album feed off of real life incidents, such as deceased family members, missing teenagers, homesickness, and the popular tale of finding love in the wrong places. Nightlife is more human, or as Miller-Heidke describes it, “a damaged, melancholy person in her late 20s.”
