Everest has just announced the details revolving around their forthcoming release, Ownerless. The new LP from Los Angeles-based rockers is due out June 26, 2012 via ATO Records. Listen to our mxdwn premiere of new album track, “Hungry Ghost,” after the jump.

Everest was been handpicked by Neil Young to open for him on tour and has previously toured with My Morning Jacket, Wilco, Minus The Bear and Matt Costa. Everest’s guitarist, Joel Graves, describes Ownerless as a “hopeful love letter slipped under the door.” Judging by their charismatic and charming song, “Hungry Ghost,” it seems as though fans can expect a warm and charming followup to their 2010 release, On Approach. The recording process for Ownerless started out with Everest doing live takes in a smoky clubhouse next door to a chicken coop in Cottage Grove, OR. In hindsight Everest’s singer and guitarist, Russell Pollard adds,”Looking at the record now, it almost feels like there’s an invisible thread that connects all the dots somehow. It just sort of happened naturally. The result, our new record: Ownerless.” Ownerless was produced by Rob Schnapf (AA Bondy, Tokyo Police Club and Everest’s On Approach), Richard Swift (Damien Jurado, The Mynabirds) and the band.
