Animal Collective has just announced that their forthcoming album, Centipede Hz, will be released September 4 2012 via Domino Records. As reported by founding member Geologist, the new release should be a definite divergence from 2009’s Merriweather Post Pavilion.
As of now, Animal Collective is keeping most of the details surrounding the album under wraps. Their press release included nothing more than the release date, which gives fans little to go off of except for Geologist’s brief chat with BBC Radio 1.
“It was basically like being a garage band again,” Geologist said. “This one we wrote more as a rock band in a room and we wanted to record it that way as well.” That being said, fans can expect something more stripped down than their last release.
