It seems like bad news for muscian and actor Andre 3000. The artist is set to star in biopic about the late guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, but the company that controls his music, is not so pleased with this idea. Find out more after the jump.
Andre 3000 and Jimi Hendrix
As of right now, it seems that the film will progress despite opposition from Experience Hendrix LLC, which is essentially the musician’s estate. The film, entitled All Is By My Side will begin shooting later this month. Hendrix’s sister, Janie is the CEO of the Experience and had this to say:
“We have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future, though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.”
So the producers of the film will most likely have to get permission from the company in order to include any actual music from the artist’s repertoire. Andre 3000, whose given last name is Benjamin, has appeared in several other film endeavors including Semi-Pro, alongside Will Ferrell (2008), Idlewild (2006), and Four Brothers (2005).
