Bob Dylan, who is 70 years old and has released 34 studio albums, is being honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He will be receiving the award later this spring at the White House. He will be joined by author Toni Morrison, basketball coach Pat Summitt, astronaut John Glenn, civil rights activist John Doar and former secretary of state Madeline Albright who are also recieving the award.
Dylan was especially active with the cvil rights movement in the 1960s with songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Masters of War”. He since moved away from the folk influenced civil rights movement but his influence in popular music over the last 50 years is unparalleled.
Dylan is currently touring South America and working on his 35th studio album, which doesn’t have an official release date.
