Spiritualized’s front man Jason Pierce revealed that he has long term liver disease. Read more after the jump.
Jason Pierce of the Indie-Rock band Spiritualized has liver disease. In an interview with The Guardian he announced it saying:
I found out I have long time liver disease. My liver was pretty gone, basically.
Spiritualized recently released a new LP titled Sweet Heart Sweet Light in which Pierce was on intense pain medication during the recording process. He was taking weekly injections and daily pills, some of which were untested and usually used on leukemia patients.
Talking about the sound of the record Pierce said:
“The further I get away from the treatment the more I feel it wasn’t me making that record. It was like I wasn’t in my own head. It was made in such weird conditions, it’s hard for me to get a handle on it.”
Pierce is still scheduled to play a North American tour which also includes the Sasquatch music festival. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.
