Alt-rock legends The Cult will tour North America this year in support of their new album, Choice of Weapon. Check out all the details after the jump.
The tour kicks off May 25th in San Diego, California and wraps up about a month later in Tempe, Arizona. The new record drops May 22nd, marking the first studio release for the band in five years. Singer Ian Astbury expressed enthusiasm for the band’s latest effort, comparing it to the classic records the band cranked out in the 80s. “The new songs,” claims Astbury, “are a sharpened and heightened extension of everything we have ever done.”
The tour is also a big deal to the band. “This is going to be a very intense, high-energy tour,” explains Astbury. “We are really looking forward to the time we spend on stage connected to our music and our audience. That’s our purpose.”
