Kevin Shields teases a follow up of My Bloody Valentine’s 1991 classic Loveless.
There have been rumors of a new My Blood Valentine album ever since Loveless came out in 1991. The alternative rock band known for heavy distortion are reissuing their two albums Loveless and Isn’t Anything and front man Kevin Shields hinted in an interview with Pitchfork that a new album may finally come together.
The story is that Shields started writing the new album in the early 90s but some of the band members left and Shields was forced out of the band because of legal issues. After they reunited in 2007 the talk of a new album resurfaced and now that their old albums are being reissued it sounds like Shields is actively in the studio working on something new. Shields said, “You never known we might finish it really quickly, and it might be up in a few months! I tend to work really quickly, suddenly, and I might be willing to do that right now. We’ll see!” He is still being rather vague but at least the talk is hopeful.
